SEW S Series Helical-Worm Gearmotors
The SEW-EURODRIVE S Series helical-worm gearmotors offer a highly cost-effective right-angle drive solution that combines the low noise of worm gearing with the high efficiency of helical gear stages. Significantly more efficient than plain worm gearboxes, the S series features a torque spectrum spanning from 92 Nm to 4,000 Nm. Its inherent dampening properties, exceptionally quiet operation, and flexible shaft/mounting designs make SEW S series gearmotors an ideal choice for light-to-medium duty conveyors, stage machinery, food processing equipment, and automated sorting systems.

The S series helical-worm gear unit family can be configured into a variety of mounting configurations and shaft types to easily integrate into your machinery. Specify your variant when requesting a quote (e.g., SA77, SAF67, or SF57):
- S / S..R: Foot-mounted solid shaft helical-worm gear unit.
- SA / SA..R: Hollow shaft version with keyway connection.
- SF / SF..R: Flange-mounted solid shaft version (B5 flange).
- SAF / SAF..R: Flange-mounted hollow shaft version.
- SH / SHF / SAZ: Hollow shaft with shrink disc, TorqLOC® clamping system, or B14 flange options.

This combination drastically improves total gear unit efficiency compared to pure worm drives while preserving low-noise operation and cost advantages.
The S Series is the economical choice for applications requiring right-angle power transmission with extremely low noise and moderate torque demands (up to 4,000 Nm). For heavy-duty continuous operations requiring maximum efficiency (>90%) and higher torque ratings (up to 50,000 Nm), the K Series is recommended.
